The first week of the new year is launching a new era at the DuPage Housing Authority.
The authority’s board of commissioners will meet in a special session Thursday morning to name as its new executive director a housing professional with more than 25 years in the business. The hiring will fill a position that has remained without a permanent occupant for 10 months in the wake of a $10.1 million mismanagement scandal at the Wheaton agency.
After winnowing down an initial pool of about 60 applicants, the commission chose David Hoicka, most recently chief operating officer for the Housing Authority City of El Paso.
